Volunteering Opportunities at Regency Acres
There are many fun and rewarding ways to volunteer at Regency Acres. Every contribution made by volunteers is important in making our school such a wonderful place for kids to learn! Please take a moment to look through some of the many volunteer opportunities that are available at the school.
Sunshine Group... this group oversees the organization of a number of fun family events. Possible events include Family Ski Night, Family Skating Afternoon, Family Movie Nights and Family Hike Day. You can offer to help with a single event, or with them all. These events are run on evenings and weekends.
Regency Kids Care... This group organizes charitable activities in which the children get directly involved. Its efforts provide opportunities for our children to develop compassion and desire for involvement in our community, regardless of recognition or reward. Some planned events this year are Halloween Treat Bags, Valentines for Seniors, and freezie sales with proceeds to Ryan's Well Foundation (http://www.ryanswell.ca). As they work with the students, this group meets during school hours.
Holiday Heritage Night... This group organizes a one-night event highlighting the variety of celebrations and traditions practiced around the world in December. This event runs in conjunction with the Regency Acres Holiday Concert. Planning sessions are held in the evening.
Fundraising Committee... This committee organizes a variety of events to raise funds for the school. Monies raised by this committee are presented to School Council for spending. In the past they have financed items such as computer and sports equipment purchases, theatre presentations and classroom reading supplies.
Cupcake day / Bake sale Volunteers
Cupcake day/Bake sale is a fundraiser that happens on a Friday, once a month. All treats sell for 50 cents. I am looking for bakers to supply 2 dozen goodies. Also, help is needed that morning to organize and sell in 4 different areas of the school. This is a fun, social time, and opportunity to get to know other parents in the school, as well as interact with the school community! A couple of hours a month to help bring smiles to the kid's faces - that's it! Please email Gayle at gaylempalmer@msn.com if you would like more information.
Hot Lunches... The Hot Lunch program runs every Wednesday at Regency Acres. Volunteers are neede to help organize the food orders and deliver the food baskets to the classrooms. This takes about 45 minutes from 11:30am to 12:30pm. You can help every week, alternating weeks or just drop in to help when you can.
Volunteer Co-ordination... This group aims to increase fmaily involvement within the school and to facilitate communication between families. It organizes the Class Directories and helps to match up volunteers with the various volunteer jobs around the school. This group usually meets during the day.
